She Was Loud - She Was Loud EP review

Lovers of groovy, 90s-flavored rock and roll rejoice! She Was Loud are a little bit White Stripes, a little bit Red Hot Chili Peppers, a little bit grunge, and a little bit funk - with enough groove to tip over a cruise ship. Best of all, the band is giving this album away for free on bandcamp (link below)!

She Was Loud rock steadily and consistently with hard, head-banging grooves, putting lots of well-deserved emphasis on a killer rhythm section, but that's not to say their lacking in the melody department. With three lead vocalists present on the album (Jess Molenaar, Murray Lawson, and Diz), there's no shortage of powerful, catchy hooks and vocal melodies, the most notable being those on Runaway and the opener, All Along the Way.

The variety provided by having three lead vocalists is a nice touch, making the album seem fresh and diverse from track to track, with each vocalist holding their own with competence and conviction. Whether they're breaking out in a Rage Against the Machine-style rhythmic vocal section, or belting out a soaring chorus melody, the quality is always top-notch.
